Galkot House
Galkot, a municipality in the Baglung district of Nepal’s Gandaki province, has a rich historical and cultural heritage. It was once the citadel of a hilly kingdom ruled by the Mallas, and the intact historical palace stands as a testament to its storied legacy.
The locals are working to restore Galkot’s glory and promote it as a tourism hub. Mayor Bharat Sharma Gaihre seeks investment and knowledge from Nepalis overseas to foster education, healthcare, cleanliness, and tourism.
Ghumte, the tallest mountain in Galkot at 11,000 feet, is associated with Galkot’s prestige. Efforts are underway to develop infrastructure and ease tourists’ trips to this scenic peak, which overlooks Baglung bazaar and parts of Gulmi and Palpa.
Visiting Galkot offers a glimpse into Nepal’s rich cultural past and the grandeur of classic architecture.
